Crufts 2001. Having prepared a mixed team of Retrievres and Spaniels for the Gun-dog day demonstration in March, Edward had to reconvene the team for the re-scheduled show at the end of May. Edward made it safely down to the N.E.C. for the rehersal, only tofind on his return to the Borders, 48 hours before the performance, that a suspected outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease had occurred just outside Jedburgh and that the kennels fell within the contiguous zone. After much debate and consulting with officials at The Kennel Club, it was decided regretfully that he should not go. This was a bitter disapointment, after many months of hard work in preparation and a let down for all clients who where looking forward to seeing Edward in action, with his team of eight.
The Game Fair Edward is now concentrating on the spaniel team that he will be demonstrating for training purposes, each day, at lunch time in the gundog area at the Game Fair. The team will consist of Springers and Cockers, ranging from a six month puppy to adults in the field. Edward also hopes to be a part of the Scotish Team again this year, for the Internantional Tests.
Field Trial Champion - Sundart Solar It was with some regret that Edward recently agreed to let Solar go to America. He had had a wonderfull time with the dog, who thrives on work. With the two Field Trial Champions in the kennels Edward decided to let Solar have the chance to further his career with a top US handler in Washington State and keenly awaits news of his progress. FTC Willowby Sandpiper (Bonus) will be staying at Sealpin.
Strathfleet Zimba (Wallace). Introducing wallace to visitors is always a pleasure, he is charming, attractive and so pleased to be noticed. Wallace is a light Golden Cocker, we bought into the kennels, as we had nothing young enough to start off the new Cocker Training Video with. When young Wallace arrived in the kennel yard at seven weeks old, after a four hour journey from Cape Wrath, he jumped out and stood four square, looking all around to see who he should take on first! It seemed the obvious thing to name him after William Wallace, the freedom fighter! Apart from the video which should be out in time for Christmas, his first public appearance will be at the Game Fair training demonstrations. |
