Sealpin latest - January 2001

During the summer Edward Martin successfully competed with three English Springers in the International Gun-dog Competition at the Game Fair, held this year at Blenheim Palace. Running in the Scottish Team with Mr George Presslie's Kilmerran Drummer, and his own two dogs, Field Trial Champion Willowbay Sand Piper and Sundart Solar. Drummer took the award for the top scoring spaniel at the event.

Drummer had been back in the kennels in order to prepare him for the trialling season, he is an excellent dog, with a cool determination about his work and brother of Sand-Piper. Subsequently he has been made up into Field Trial Champion status by winning both the English Springer Spaniel Club of Scotland and the North of Scotland F.T. Assoc, Stakes. In addition he took second place in the Kennel Club and Gordon and District Open Trials.

Willowbay Sand-Piper himself has also won this season, the Scottish Gundog Assoc. Open Trial, (his only run this season) qualifying him for the Championships. Edwards other young dog, Sundart Solar, came out for the Highland Gundog Club Open Trial, winning later in the week at the Delnabo Estate, thus making a hat-trick of entries for the A.V.Championships in Hampshire , during January.

Last, but by no means least, the pretty little red cocker bitch, Miss Alexandrovna, whose puppies earlier in the summer were in such demand, has also won the Yorkshire Gun-dog Club Open Cocker Stake, held at Stean the other week. Edward had commented that Flex (her Name at home) really deserved to win as she consistantly puts in excellent work.
