Sealpin Kennels - Lanton HillJedburgh, The Scottish Borders TD8 6SY
| Edward and Elizabeth are lucky enough to have a small grass farm
in the outstandingly beautiful countryside of the Scottish Borders, high on a
hillside over looking the Teviot valley. They are close to the friendly town of
Jedburgh, on the A68 roughly half way between Newcastle and Edinburgh.
Surrounded by some of the finest shoots in the British Isles, ideal for the type
of business they run. The training and experiencing of gun dogs could not be
better situated. Edward is able to shoot rabbits on the hill, over his spaniels
and to "pick up" on the large shooting estates nearby. The season starts with
rabbiting for the young dogs in training here and progresses to picking up on
the grouse moor in August and on to partridge and pheasant in September and
October. |

Different types of ground and cover are
important to encompass every aspect of what a trained dog may be asked to manage
during his hunting career. From white grass, rushes and whins(gorse) to heather,
bracken, woodland and bramble, Sealpin's aim is to show the dogs every possible
variety of cover. The river Teviot, below the
farm in the valley, makes for a perfect introduction to water for young
spaniels and retrievers alike, and Sealpin make full use of the river from
early summer. |
