Sealpin's Origins and Owners

Edward and Elizabeth Martin.

Background

It all began for Edward and Elizabeth far from their current location and under slightly different conditions.

Edwards hobby of training and trialling his own spaniels in Suffolk, "making up" a few Field Trial Champions gradually grew into an obsession during the 70's and 80's. Edwards successes generated interests from others and people started to ask him to train and trial dogs for them. These requests grew in number and even began spread around the world as far as USA, Canada and Sweden. Slowly it became apparent that the logical next step was to turn the growing hobby into business.

The four children of the Martin's had now flown the nest, the seeds of the business sown and in 1989 the dream became a reality with the establishment of the kennels at Lanton Hill.

Lanton was an almost natural choice for the Martins, it making sense to move to an area with fewer professional trainers, ideal environment for the work, the beautiful and unspoilt countryside of the Scottish Borders and of course the added attraction of the grouse season.

During the last decade the kennels has built upon its foundations of enthusiasm and its love for the animals with a professional, though caring approach to breeding techniques and training programmes.
