Hello and welcome to the online home of Sealpin Kennels. This renowned gundog business has been run by Edward and Elizabeth Martin from Lanton Hill Farm, near Jedburgh, in the Scottish Borders for over twenty years. Over this time the business has gone from strength to strength and the future looks bright with grandson Joe Hipwell building upon the Sealpin spirit of hard work and attention to detail.
Edward's hobby of training and trialling his own spaniels in Suffolk, where he had success with a few Field Trial Champions, gradually grew into an obsession during the seventies and eighties. Edward's successes generated interest from others and people started to ask him to train and trial dogs for them. These requests grew in number and began to spread around the world as far as the USA, Canada and Sweden. It became apparent that the logical next step was to turn the growing hobby into a business. The seeds of the business were sown, the four Martin children had flown the nest and so, in 1989, the dream became a reality with the establishment of Sealpin Kennels at Lanton Hill.
Lanton was an almost natural choice for the Martins. It made sense to move to an area with fewer professional trainers, an ideal environment for the work, beautiful and unspoilt countryside of the Scottish Borders and, of course, the added attraction of the grouse season.
From these foundations the business grew and grew. When he was still at school, Joe would come up to Lanton Hill in his summer holidays to work in the kennels and to watch and learn from his Grandpa. This early interest in gundogs developed to Joe training his own dogs and Edward and Elizabeth are delighted that he has now joined the business full time. Joe has a degree in journalism and will work as a freelance writer as well as continuing Sealpin's reputation for producing top class working Springers, Cockers and Labrador Retrievers.
Sealpin Kennels adhere to the core values of attention to detail, professionalism and a caring approach to breeding techniques and training programmes. We hope you will find our website useful. If you wish to contact us further then please telephone 01835 863275 or email lantonhill@googlemail.com
